During community fire awareness meetings I am often swamped by people asking what to do if trapped by a wildfire. They invite me to their homes to ask questions about what the fire department advised them to do by implementing Firewise clearances and being ready to evacuate.
The question most asked is, “What do we do if there is no time to leave? Don’t we need to know how to put out the embers!”
So here it is, no muss no fuss experience based insights we fire veterans know from years of seeing what works and what doesn’t.

We put together this website as a portal for tips that can improve safety for incoming firefighters, and increase the odds of saving your life and your home.
When my engine company arrived at a threatened neighborhood or structure, the ones where the homeowners did their part to be ready got the protection. The others didn’t.
